Message from the Rector of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University

PROF. DR. R. CÜNEYT ERENOĞLU — RECTOR

COP31 is a defining opportunity to move climate action from commitment to implementation. As a university rooted in Çanakkale — a city shaped by history, agriculture, the sea and a strong culture of solidarity — Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University recognises its responsibility to contribute knowledge, people and solutions to this global endeavour.

Our approach is built on a simple principle: universities must not only study the green transition; they must demonstrate it. Through the ÇOMÜ Green Transition Living Lab, we bring together scientific research, education, campus operations, public–industry cooperation and community participation. This enables us to test solutions in real settings, measure their outcomes and share what works.

The projects and good practices presented on this platform reflect the breadth of our institutional capacity — from clean energy, zero waste and smart agriculture to food security, sustainable textiles, environmental monitoring, resilient cities and youth engagement. They also express our commitment to science diplomacy: connecting local evidence with international cooperation and translating global goals into practical action.

I invite universities, public institutions, civil society, industry and young people to explore our work and build new partnerships with us. With the spirit of ‘Hep Birlikte Daha İleri’, we will continue to transform knowledge into impact — from science to the field, from local to global.
